The Farm House

This is a large, lovely renovated old farmhouse, set in wheat fields 100m from the airstrip. Inside we've kept it simple; it sleeps up to 11, with a queen bed in the master bedroom, a double with a single bunk over the top for a young family in the second bedroom, and bunk beds in the third bedroom. There’s a large kitchen and BBQ for cooking, and a beautiful wooden table that seats 10. Snuggle down in front of the fireplace in winter and enjoy the shady garden and big luxurious backyard in summer.

THE SURROUNDS

Walk through cotton and wheat fields with kangaroos, wallabies and a rich birdlife. Or simply bring a book and chill in quiet surrounds. There are dams for big and little kids alike to fish, and learn where your food and fibre comes from by arranging a farm tour. Best of all it’s under a big sky! The sunrise and sunsets are often glorious and for stargazers the Milky Way can be unforgettable.

Cook beautiful dinners, or, we can arrange any catering to suit. Our free-range chickens will be very happy to share some eggs for your breakfast too.

THE HISTORY

Jon Elder is a 4th generation farmer and flying nerd who returned to the farm with partner and Ex-City-Girl Karin Stark, buying the ‘Willoughby’ property in 2011. They run it in conjunction with Jon’s parents; Ross and Kerry, and their neighbouring farm ‘Waverleigh.’

In 2011 the farmhouse was a wreck. While Jon considered bulldozing it, Ross (who had grown up in the house) convinced the others it was worth doing up as; “just a dos-house for farm workers.” Having stopped the dozers, Ross then invested the next 10 years and the equivalent renovation resources of ‘Grand Designs’ series one to five. The result is a farmhouse that Karin and Jon are much too humble to live in, but are very proud to share with you.
